Composition I

Prejudice

When people walk past strangers , they can’t help but make judgment of others. They keep thinking about something like “He wears a pair of dark glasses and he must have a bad temper” or “What she wears is over and she must be a rude girl”. They don’t know each other but they create a personality of others. This is how "prejudice" is invented. The word “prejudice” refers to prejudgment: making a decision about something or someone before aware of the relevant facts of a case or event.

People can easily make judgment of others and prejudice against someone because of different race, sex, age, appearance and religion. Take “People in Sichuan love spicy food” for example. The speaker of the sentence makes a judgment that all the people in Sichuan love having spicy food. However, we don’t understand every individual in Sichuan and it is impossible for us to know whether everyone of them likes spicy food. It’s just our prejudice of the people in the region. Therefore, if one day you make a friend who comes from Sichuan, you might ask him/her that if he/she likes spicy food. If we have to give a present to a friend in Sichuan, we might give them a spicy food. It’s all because of our own prejudice.

I am one of the people who easily make judgment of strangers. Once I had a part-time job in an English cram school. On the first day I went to work, I met one girl who came from Taipei. She liked laughing loudly and she wore a mini-skirt. I didn’t talk much to her on the first day and I didn’t even understand her very much. I couldn’t help but think that she was not easy to get along with and I thought she looked like a conceited person . I thought I wouldn’t be good friend with her. However, after we got along with each other for a few days, I found she was totally different from my impression of her. She was kind, innocent, humorous and passionate. What’s more, she was humble in many ways. I just made a wrong judgment due to her hometown and her appearance. Afterwards I found how foolish I was and my prejudice was almost wrong.

The novel “Pride and Prejudice” is also a good example of the wrong judgment. The main character Elizabeth Bennet, who often judges others by her first impression, has a stong prejudice against Mr. Darcy. Finally she finds out the truth and falls in love with him. Prejudice can change due to understanding.Therefore, the word “prejudice” is widely used to refer to hostile attitude towards people based on only few reasons or even by judging someone without knowing them. Consequently, the result and fact is totally different. It is a common phenomenon among humans and a human nature. If we can try to live a day without judging people, it might be a new world in our eyes.

Composition II

Uniforms

There are always people on the street you can recognize that they’re students and what schools they go to. Wearing uniforms to the public schools seems a normal thing. However, lots of people are discussing and arguing about this issue. Some people think public school students should wear uniforms but some others don’t think so. In my opinion, wearing uniforms to school has lots of benefits so we shouldn’t abolish the rule.

Some people might say that if students wear uniforms, they will lack creativity. They think it can arouse their new ideas and the potential of creating new things just because they won’t be “ruled by trivia.” Nevertheless, when people say so, they don’t think of what the real purpose of students to go to school is. Creativity is an important thing but it must be based upon education and fundamentals. If you don’t have enough knowledge, all you think is a mess of daydreams. Anyway, if you don’t concentrate on your studies, you cannot get enough knowledge and going to school is just wasting time and money. Therefore, if public school students wear uniforms, they don’t have to waste time worrying about what they should wear and they can only focus on their studies. You just need a few minutes to put on your school uniforms every day.

What’s more, those people who are against wearing uniforms think they can be in a good mood and look good by wearing their own clothes. However, wearing casual clothes will lead to some discrimination and self-abasement for poor students. If we wear uniforms, the rich and the poor all look alike and the poor don’t have to worry that they don’t have enough money to buy new clothes. It is fair for everybody and students won’t judge others just by one’s appearance.

Still others think that everybody has their human rights and also do the students. They can decide what they want to look like. They say that wearing the uniforms is like the prisons and they think that students lack liberty. Anyway, uniforms represent your identification with your own school. If students like their own school and they regard themselves as one member of the big family, they will try their best to behave well. In addition, students will care about the reputation of their school and they will be united. It’s also good for schools to make their students get the great education.

To be brief, wearing uniforms at public schools is good for students, parents and schools. The main purpose for students to go to school is to get good education and concentrate on absorbing the variety of knowledge. Students will learn that the appearance is not as important as true ability. If students are distracted by those meaningless things and cannot do their best, it will be a real pity!

International Affairs

Last Tuesday night, we had a meeting in the Language Center. It was for the office of international affairs. We are going to join a camp for foreigners this summer vacation named Chinese Camp.(I think it is because they come to Taiwan for learning Chinese.) I'm not the team leader but I have to help them. On the meeting, we watched the films which they took last summer vacation and we put our name card on. There was aan interesting thing happened to me. After I entering the classroom, I saw someone who I had seen before. I thought she might be my schoolmate when I was in the elementary school. I kept looking at her and thinking. I could not sure because I had not seen her for a long time. So I decided to ask her if she knew me.I was afraid that she forgot me. Luckily, she remembered me well and she even could call my name. She also studied in Chung-Hsing and I thought it was really cool to come across the one who you knew when you were still a little kid.

Last Thursday we also had lunch together for international affairs!!! We ate lunch at Leaf and it was really delicious. I hope that it will go well for the international affairs and I can have lots of good friends!!!

Rainy Days

I think the weather in Taichung is good. It dosen't rain a lot as the north of Taiwan or hot as the south of Taiwan. It doesn't often rain in Taichung so when the weather turns bad throughout Taiwan and it begins to rain in Taichung, we who get used to good weathers will become uncomfortable and unhappy. I say that we are spoiled by the good weather. I hate rainy days a lot so I don't think I will be happy to live in the north of Taiwan especially Keelung. When it starts to rain, I don't like to go outside. However, the only thing I can do is just complain in my mind, I still need to do something. Recently, there are lots of rain outside, and it starts to rain in Taichung. I still have to work outside so I have to get used to it!!! Oh~

Bountiful feast!!!

We went to 香妍小館 for our home reunion today and there were lots of people because we held the home reunion together. I have been to the restaurant once so this time was my second to have a feast here. I ordered one meal that I didn't try before. It was the meat of snail and swine. Though I felt afraid of the meat of snail a little I still ate all of it and it was really delicious!!! The pre-meal was as great as last time I came. Great soup(tomato soup which I didn't try before.),great salad ,great bread ,great sauce and great gratinate!!!! It was really delicious and I felt so full. After all of that we had a small chocolate cake!!!So lucky to have a great dinner.

We also took a lot of pictures because our senior is going to graduate in June 27. We are all good friends~~~ We also talked a lot and laughed loudly!!Everyone was so nice.I think DFLL is really a big family and so warm!!

Play in the water

We had planned for the travel to the theme park Mala Bay for a long time. We expected it very much so when the day came, May 17!!! At first we worried about the weather problem because that week might rain. Actually that day morning there were a little rain outside. However we set our mind to go no matter what weather it was so we set off by motorcycle!!!! We rode for one hour to get our destination! We were all excited and we bought the ticket for 2pm to 5pm. When we got it, there were few minutes to two o'clock so we went to change our clothes and prepared to play. We wore our swimming suit and applied some sun-protection lotion to all the skin on our body. It was really important to me because I didn't want to become tan!!! Tanned skin to me is the most terrible dream to me, ha ha ha. So I carefully applied the sun lotion twice! Then we started to play!!! Some were very exciting and I didn't dare to play. However, I still felt very happy and excited!!

When we came back home, we were all tired!!! We went to have dinner wharf no.nine~It was a bountiful feast!!!So delicious~~~

Stomachache

Since I had eaten a lot of food in the winter vacation and the Chinese New Year, my stomach have not been in a good condition for a long time. I ate a lot before but I never felt uncomfortable. However, I really overused my stomach and I deserved it. After that, I often have the stomachache. My father took me to both the Chinese and western doctor. I took a lot of medicine but my situation didn't improve. Last Saturday, I ate the spicy pot with my family to celebrate Mother's Day. It made my stomach worse and worse. I could eat four to five bowls of rice before but that day I could just ate two of it and I had the stomachache for three days!!!

Now I have to eat very slowly to digest every thing and I have to eat each meal on time. The stomachache really kills me T_T . If I get the stomachache at night, I will have a hard time sleeping. I am tired of all kinds of illness and I hope that one day I can get rid of all of them!

Freewriting

Actually in our society, you have to be an expert to even your hobbies. I think this idea will make lots of discrimination and prevent normal people from improving. It is because may be as a beginner you can not do very well but if you keep practicing, you may oneday become professional. However, if you are afraid of other's opinion about you are not

Oh Oh Oh Hugh Jackman

I think I fall in love!!! Ha ha ha, after I saw the movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine ", I got hooked for handsome Hugh Jackman deeply !!!! He is so handsome and sexy!!! I also love his character in the movie"Logan" who is full of justice and love!!! I can't help but keep thinking about him after seeing the movie. The next day I even rented the his movie he acted before "Scoop". In addition, I googled a lot of his information~~ The show he performed on the Oscar is also wonderful! I think I am crazy !!! ha~No wonder he was voted as the sexiest man in the world. He is so charming and attractive. I hope I can see all his movies!

I had a long time did not like the movie star so deeply! Actually I had seen some of his movie before but I didn't pay much attetion on him until recently I have seen Australia. He does not only act well but also sing well!! Ha ha ha~~~I really have a crush on him now!!!

Life with PPS is Perfect!

I didn't download the PPS in my laptop before because the laptop I use now is very old and I have tried once to download PPS but I failed. However, I tried again yesterday and I succeeded!! After downloading it, I saw a movie immediately. The movie I saw was" Bride Wars" and the two main actress were Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. In the movie they are best friends since they were children. However, they all wanted to held their wedding on the same day so they begin to plot each other. It was fun and made me laugh loudly!!! After all, they find out they cannot live without each other and they make up!!!
I like to watch TV shows, soap drama and movies so I love PPS very much!! I cannot live without it!!Ha ha ha!!!

Filial Piety is Really Important

Last Saturday my father and I went back to Chung-Hwa to see my grandfather, who is 84 years old now. When he was young, he was a poor peasant. Now he couldn't walk by his own because he was too old and he got some illness before. When I saw him I felt very bad and now he lived in the nursing home near his house. However, only my father , two uncles and one aunt cared about him. Others are indifferent. I saw all this and I respected my father very much. I think he is filial even he is busy. Even we live in Taichung, he comes back to see my grandfather very often and he always wants my grandfather to live with us but my grandfather doesn't like the city life and he insisted on living in the country. Every time when my grandfather has any problems, the one who always accompanies him and never complains is my father. It makes me moved and I always think that I have to be filial as my father ever after!!

About my future

Recently I have thought about some serious things--about my future, job ans so on. I thought it was because I my college life have only two years left and then I have to face the society. I cannot live on my parents forever. I don't want to be a "strawberry" of my generation. I remembered that when I was a kid, I had a lot of dreams about what I want to be in the future.

April comes

Last Saturday, the Tomb-sweeping Day, Dad and I went to Chang Hwa to go tomb-sweeping. There was a traffic jam because lots of people went tomb-sweeping that day. It was not hot as last year. My uncles and my cousin went with my father and I. Though it was not hot, the weather was still windless. Maybe it was because the tomb was full of people. In the midnoon, we had lunch together. My father moved to Taichung after he worked so we didn't meet the relatives often. It was a chance to get together on this day. Due to the weather, I didn't feel good that day. When I came back, I felt uncomfortable so I slept for a while.

Lasy Sunday my mother took my sister, brother and I to the supermarket and bought a lot of necessities. I was satisfied with the result of our shopping that day, ha ha ha! We had dinner in the departmentstore that day. It was great!! We watched the soap opera as usual that night!!

Yesterday Stacy, Keira ,Juby and I went to see a performance. It was so funny!!! We laughed loudly and we really enjoyed it. After watching it, we mimicked the characters in that performance !!! Lots of passersby looked at us.(because of the noise we made, hahaha.) It was great!!!

The End of March

It is Apple's birthday. We celebrated it last night and we didn't sleep until 4 o'clock am today. I was worn out and I didn't sleep a lot. I went to school at 8 o'clock today and I was really proud of myself=.=. It was fun last night because we brought our photos taken when we were young and even the period of baby. Some photos made us laugh loudly! Our facial expression was interesting!!! The most funny one was Kerry's. All of her photos made us crazy!!! After that, we took out the birthday cake and sang birthday song to her. Then we gave her the gift we prepared.

Last Saturday I went out with my funny old friend Frank. We laughed and talked loudly. We almost went crazy when we talked about something fun. There was a "buy one get one free" activity in Starbucks. So we waited in line to buy it. Every time when I went out with my old friends I felt happy! We always had a lot to say and even speak ill of others together just like before! Though we all studied in different places, we still kept in touch often:)

Tired but Content

What my title mentioned is my PE class of new semester. Apple, Claire and I take the same class-Weight-training. At first, I didn't take this class. What I took was the Golf class. However, I found that if I took the Golf class, I would be tan after whole semester. It was because the Golf class was outdoor and the sun would make me tan. Anyway, I take "Weight-training" and I start to know what is the "real" PE class. Why do I say so? It was because last semester, my PE class was "Taijiquan". That class was easy and not tired at all. All the movement was slow and made me sleepy. I didn't sweat even after whole class. Now, I can train my body and I am worn out after PE class. I think it is the really PE class. After all, I don't often exercise so if I can exercise well once a week, maybe it's good to my health and body.

In addition, our PE class teacher is really humorous. Every time he explains, he always says something fun and his movement is fun, too. I want to challenge myself more in the future because I am weak now. I want to become strong and make myself more healthy!

It's painful

Last Wednesday, I only ate one piece of pastry in the morning but I still ached greatly and vomited for several times. It seemed that there was a pair of scissors in my belly and the scissor screwed. The pain was hurtful and hardly for me to bear it. The worst of all, I had to take my PE class that day. I couln't go home till three o'clock. When I walked, I felt faint and painful. I couldn't speak a lot because I was exhausted. Fortunately, the teacher was thoughtful and he didn't force me to exercise. However, when I came home, all I could do was only to stay in my bed.

Since I had the period, I have been tortured by the pain every month. I'ved tried lots of treatment and I can't have any cold drink, ice cream and anything cold. Maybe I don't get my treatment or chinese medicine for a long time so my aches won't stop. Every time when I have to suffer from it, I always think what the hell I have done last life?!! Why should I have to suffer from this? Why should I have to bear punishment like this?!! Why?

I was a bay guy last life I thought. A big bad guy!!

I went to see the chinese doctor last Saturday and I have to take medicine every day now. Poor poor me. Poor poor Eva.

Journal

March, 4

It's the first dinner of my freshman and my senior. We went to " Traveler Kitchen" to have a nice dinner. It was a special restaurant and It decorated with Greek style. In addition, it's menu was very cute. All of the pictures on the menu was painted by the restaurant owner! When we took the seat and started to read the menu, there was a passionate waiter coming to us. He happily introduced the meals on the menu to us. After his introduction, we ordered all we wanted and began to chat. It was a good time chatting with my "families". Though we didn't talk to each other at school very often, we still couldn't stop talking about many fun things! Time flied and we didn't leave the restaurant till it closed.

March, 7

It was a rainy day and we could only stay in the house. Stacy and I went to Kiera's home after we woke up. We watched TV and talked loudly there. We also got together to watch the baseball game. It was exciting! In the evening, we played " Monopoly" together. It was a game which totally depends on your fate! However, it was really interesting.

March, 8

It was an unexpectedly sunny day. We went to Ho-li to see the "Tulip sea". However, the flowers didn't cost us lots of time. We spent most of time on barbeq! We paid only 150 NT dollars and we could BBQ for three hours. We were all full. When we went back, it rained.

Going Abroad

Lots of my classmates are going abroad this summer vacation. Most of them will do the part-time job in the country they are going to so they can earn the money for touring. It is great but I can't go this summer vacation. It was because I had gone abroad when I was in high school and then I spent a lot of money of my parents. I tell if I want to go abroad someday, I have to earn the money I need or it will make my family have financial burden. However, these day I hear lots about going abroad from my classmates. It makes me long for going abroad.


The country I want to go most is Australia. I really long for doing part-time job in a big pasture. I love the abundant natural resources and beautiful sceneries so much. I want to live there for months. However, it is just a dream. If I want to make it come true, I have to save enough money. If I want to save money, I must have lots of part- time jobs.

The Wonderful Winter Vacation

I had a wonderful and relaxed winter vacation. I did both outdoor and indoor activities and I thought it was good for my soul and mind. In addition, this winter vacation was quite different from my previous vacations because I used to go traveling and play outdoors almost all the vacation before. However, this winter vacation I went to several places , read three books , saw lots of movies and visited the relatives. I learned a lot and I was thinking a lot.


Speaking to my outdoor activities:

January 20th , I went to Taichung Metropolitan Park to fly a kite. That was a beautiful sunny day and I had a great memory.

February 8th , I went to see the festive lantern. There were full of people and all kinds of lanterns of cows. It was cute and every hour there was the "main lantern show": a cute cow played the baseball and there would be a baseball went around! Though the movement of the ball was slow, it was amazing.


February 11th , my good friends( high school friends) and I went to have lunch to a famous restaurant near TungHai University. We were talking about what happended to us last semester while we were having the delicious meal. We didn't see each other for several months so we were excited. After having the great meal, we went to TungHai for a walk. It was wide and beautiful in TungHai.

February 18th, I went to Kaohsiung with my friend. Kaohsiung was a modern city and there were a lot of department stores. We went to Cijin. We had to take a ship to get to Cijin. It was my first time went to there. In addition, we went to Dream mall and we took the ferris wheel . We saw the beautiful night scene of Kaohsiung when we were on the ferris wheel. What's more, we went to Sun Yat-sen University , love river and so on. It was really a beautiful city and made me impressed.

I also had some reunions with my elementary school classmates and my junior high school classmates. In addition, I read three novels and all of them impressed me a lot and made me think a lot.

I thought it was a great winter vacation and I thought I used my time well. I had nothing to regret.

Final

The final exams eventually come. I still remembered the last time I wrote the journal of midterm exam. After the midterm exam I made some wishes like I would study harder for the final exams. However, there were endless activities in my schedule and lots of unexpected things happen to me. I am nervous for my coming exams.

My tutoring student also had exams next week so I made a practice test for him. It is a special feeling because when I was in high school , I also took the same tests from my English teacher. Choosing a proper question and making a test paper was not easy as I thought before. I had to pick some problems that my student had and made the questions for him.

I have to study hard this weekend! I want to stay at home all day these two days.
